Game 1 of the 2015 NBA Finals was a major thrill for all people watching–just as anticipated. Many bets were cushioned by the Warriors 108-100 victory.

Cleveland started off strong and Golden State didn’t cool down their hot start. With many missed shots from the league’s best shooters and lack luster defense by the rest of the team, the Dubs found themselves down by 10 at the end of the first quarter.

The Warriors turned it up in the second quarter. They were knocking down their 3’s and their defense found itself. Current MVP Stephen Curry ended the half with 14 points and 4 assists. LeBron James did his best to keep his team ahead, posting 19 points and 4 assists.

From that point on, the game stayed close, almost too close. Neither team had a lead larger than 10 points. There was an extra period because of a 98-98 tie at the end of the 4th.

The Warriors ran away with it from there, going on a 10-0 run. The Cavaliers broke the streak with a layup from LeBron James, capping off a 44 point night from the King. But, ultimately, it wasn’t enough.

The Cavaliers will head into Game 2 with a deficit in more ways than one. Kyrie Irving left late in the game with a knee injury. Upon further medical examination, he was diagnosed with a fractured left knee and is projected to be out 3-4 months. With this devastating blow, the Cavs’ chances of winning the series have slimmed down tremendously. We’ll see how they handle multiple setbacks–if they can.

Key Players:

Warriors
Stephen Curry- 26 pts (50% FG), 8 assists and 2 steals.
Klay Thompson- 21 pts (35% FG, 8-8 FT)

Cavaliers
LeBron James- 44 points (47% FG), 8 rebounds, 6 assists
Kyrie Irving- 23 points (45% FG, 2-8 3PT), 7 rebounds, 6 assists
