Trick Or Treat? Halloween is around the corner, and there are very strange things happening in Planet Soccer. Liverpool, Spurs and Arsenal top? Man Utd in the lower half of the table? Chelsea and Man City dropping points? Welcome to the early season Premier League form, and its shock results syndrome!

Before Man Utd fans start reaching for the Valium, its far to early to be writing David Moyes obituary. True it has not been the seamless transition, die hard Red Devils fans would have prayed for, yet there were many positives from last weekend’s win over hapless Sunderland. None more so than teenage sensation Adnon Januzaj looks a real find. As Jose Mourinho as often said, December is the month when things tend to take shape. Maybe Alex Ferguson took one look at the early season fixture list, and promptly decided to retire!

The fixtures will get easier for United, and expect them to be in pole position around Christmas. The early season honors have gone to Liverpool, Spurs, and Arsenal. They have all exploited their fixture friendly schedules to good effect. The negatives from a Liverpool perspective, a home loss to Southampton, and a draw at Swansea.

These will impact later, as will Spurs shocking home loss to West Ham, and Arsenal’s opening day reversal at home to
Villa. Those are the kind of fixtures that the United’s, the Chelsea’s and the Man City’s will take full advantage of later in the season. Losing to Southampton at home, really took the gloss off Liverpool’s win over the Champion’s.

Early form lines tend to be distorted however. Spurs had only conceded two goals in the first eleven matches, yet conceded three in 13 minutes last Sunday! Yes folks welcome to the premier League, but not as we know it… yet!
