To highlight the Bluejays’ impressive record, which includes 15 Missouri Valley Conference regular season conference titles and 12 MVC Conference Tournament titles, Creighton engaged experiential design firm, Advent, to create a space that is inspiring and meaningful. The Jays wanted a space that took a unique approach to showcasing the basketball program. Advent set out to break from a common sight–banners hanging from the rafters, commonly found in practice gyms.

Recently unveiled the facility is known as The Creighton Championship Center. It features large-scale graphics of the Omaha skyline, championship moments, and legendary players. Some of the program’s best players, like Kyle Korver of the Atlanta Hawks, are honored with their names and autographs embedded in the gym floor.

There are also two sets of shades on three large windows that can be raised and lowered independently to display different messages on the back wall.  Creighton’s place in the Big East Conference is also reflected in graphics on the gym floor.

The new facility defines the Jays’ program in a bold and inspiration way. It resonates with current players and will introduce the program proudly to recruits. Coach Greg McDermott said the practice facility serves as a “visual aid” to communicate what makes the Jays’ basketball program special.

He’ll be able to walk recruits out to the balcony from his office where he can point to graphics that illustrate the team’s features, such as camaraderie among players and a track record of producing great basketball best players. He’ll be able to highlight the Jays’ championship moments and the team’s connection to one of the country’s most loyal fan bases. A source of pride is 17,000 fans who gather for home games at the CenturyLink Center.
