Why Derrick Rose is Still an MVP

Storyline: Derrick Rose has certainly seen his share of obstacles. It’s about time he takes back his MVP form.Written by Peyton Hook, Galesburg, Illinois.

Derrick Rose is the second Chicago Bull in Bull’s history to win the MVP award; Michael Jordan is the other one obviously. Even though Rose is only averaging 14.4 ppg right now, he has more players around him that can shoot than he did his 2010-2011 MVP season.

Right now, Rose is on a roll; in the last 2 games, he’s had 20 or more points in a game. Rose is still improving and getting over his orbital fracture (eye injury). He is driving again and becoming the point guard he once was. He passes up more shots and hands the ball to Pau Gasol or Jimmy Butler who have asserted themselves the number one/two options. When he feels that he can make a shot, he takes it. If not, he passes the ball.

People say Jimmy Butler is the face of the Bulls, but I disagree. Derrick Rose is still the face. Think about all the injuries Rose has had for three straight years. He missed a total of 228 regular season games from the 2011-2012 season to the end of the 2014-2015 season. Despite this, he keeps playing through injuries. I think this deserves a lot of respect.

By the end of the season, I think Rose will be averaging at least 20 ppg. I believe we will see D-Rose in his vintage form a lot more this season and then it won’t be vintage anymore it will be present and future. I believe in D-Rose; I say you are a true basketball hero.
