Tyler Kolek just ripped Taylor Swift, essentially calling her “a fake Knicks fan.”
First things first: Who is Tyler Kolek? Answer: He’s the Knicks’ backup point guard. Anyway, Swift never claimed to be a Knicks superfan in any way. I doubt that she’s watched a game this season or knows that Mitchell Robinson, their center who couldn’t hit free throws to save his life, is now on the Celtics. And, no, it’s not like she’s written a song about ’em – or even plans to.

Here’s the deal with Taylor and the Knicks.
During last season’s championship run, she got free courtside tickets. Like everyone else, she was there to enjoy the show, the party, and was an enthusiastic observer, a fan for the night. All drinks on The Garden!
It must be amazing to be the entertainee for a change. She deserves it. Don’t you think? In exchange for her ticket, the Knicks (and the NBA) got some traction with Swift’s enormous fan base.
I have a strong inkling that there are way more Swift than Knicks fans. Let’s be clear: The Knicks need Taylor more than she needs the Knicks. And since we’re talking about fake fans, the Knicks have no shortage of them. During their championship run, New York was awash in Orange and Royal Blue.
But during this season’s slow start, not a Knicks jersey was in sight. It was almost apocalyptic.
In New York, there’s no shortage of teams and distractions. If your team of the moment goes cold, it’s easy to move on to the next thing. It’s one aspect of what they call “The New York State of Mind.”
