The Wrong in College Sports

It’s incredibly frustrating to watch the “rich get richer” while there are games on the field with teams that are as good as or better than teams in the Big 10 and SEC. But those other teams get overshadowed by corporate boardrooms, including media executives, who favor “The Big 2.”

The shift from a sport built on regional pride and “any given Saturday” to what looks like a two-conference monopoly is a tough pill to swallow. It feels like the SEC and Big Ten are trying to turn college football into “NFL Lite.” In the process, they’re killing the traditions and variety that made the sport special in the first place.

Many fans feel that these conferences have lost their way by prioritizing media-market valuations over the game’s actual soul. When a team like Vanderbilt can make twice as much playoff money as a Big 12 champion just because of the logo on their jersey, the system definitely feels broken.

The only real “payback” for fans right now is on the court or the field. That said, nothing shuts up the “Power 2” talk faster than a Big 12 team knocking a “blue blood” out of the postseason.

I believe the SEC is 100% overrated. A TRUE point
