History was made at the 2026 Winter Olympics. For the first time in history, the men’s and women’s USA hockey teams both won gold medals. Let’s call it “Miracle on Ice 2.”
The men’s team won for the first time since the 1980 Miracle on Ice team, and the women’s team won its third (beating Canada each time).

Both teams beat Canada in 2026, and both championship games went into overtime. Key USA players included Hilary Knight for the women and Austin Matthews and Quinn Hughes for the men. Hughes’ brother, Jack, scored the winning goal in the championship game. Megan Keller scored the winning goal at 4:07.
The men’s hockey team was invited to the “State of the Union,” and the President announced that goalie Connor Hellebuyck would receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom. For their part, the women’s team has made several guest appearances on television talk shows and had a cameo on Saturday Night Live.
What a great moment it is for the United States, especially with everything that’s going on in the world. The USA Men’s and Women’s Hockey teams showed us that it’s possible to achieve goals if we focus and work together.
