Houston is one of 16 North American cities that will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Matches will be played at Houston’s NRG Stadium from June 14 to July 4.
In Latin America and around the world, we call soccer Football! The United States calls it soccer. It can get confusing. Personally, I think soccer is the real football because you hit the ball with your feet!
I’m especially looking forward to seeing my favorite player take the field—Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Portugal.
I once was told that to be a good skier, one should start as a kid. Cristiano followed that advice in soccer. He started playing at the age of 3.
Ronaldo’s life is one of victory after victory, indicative of one of his favorite sayings, “Dreams are not what you see in your sleep, dreams are things which do not let you sleep!”
He scored his debut goal on June 12, 2009, against La Liga de Quito at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. On August 22, 2010, Ronaldo dated supermodel Irina Shayk. The relationship lasted five years. On March 29, 2017, Ronaldo received a tribute that some U.S. presidents have–an airport named after him in Madeira, Portugal! Cristiano Ronaldo Airport Wow! That is his hometown, and on December 15, 2024, a museum opened there under his name, CR7. People come from all over to see Cristiano’s trophies. The Golden Boot is a popular item to see.

Great players! (photo, YouTube)
On October 7, 2012, the two sports superstars, Cristiano and Messi, played together. It was an unforgettable and exciting game! On May 24, 2014, Cristiano won the Champions League.
On July 10, 2018, Real Madrid paid $135 million to sign Cristiano, and they received about the same when Spain sold Cristiano to Italy! It made headlines everywhere!
Dedication and perseverance, A great career. See you in Houston, Texas!
