The Boston Celtics defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday night, 125-105, the team’s second consecutive win after a 0-3 start.
Jaylen Brown was huge for Boston, leading the way with a game-high 30 points on excellent efficiency. Brown has looked more comfortable in each game in his role as the number one option.
Boston’s role players—Joshua Minott, Sam Hauser, Anfernee Simons, and Neemias Queta—also contributed significantly. Minott and Queta combined for 27 rebounds (10 offensive). Sam Hauser was lights out from three, shooting 7-13 from the distance and totaling 21 points. Anfernee Simons chipped in 14 points off the bench.
Although Payton Pritchard and Derrick White have yet to find their shooting groove, Pritchard tallied 10 assists, demonstrating that he has taken on a more prominent playmaking role now that he is a starter. White’s defensive presence and hustle tonight made up for his lack of shooting.
Overall, Boston was outstanding, knocking down 21 three-pointers. Eight players scored in double figures, and the defense contributed to poor shooting, while also causing 14 turnovers. That’s saying something because the Cavs are one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.
Boston will now travel to Philadelphia on Friday for a Halloween showdown, hoping to avenge a season-opening-night loss.
