Here’s hoping folks found something better to do than watch the Jets game on a balmy fall Sunday afternoon. And bless your heart if you watched another wreck in the Jets’ 13-6 loss to the Panthers at MetLife Stadium.
It’s been no different from the last few losses. Shoot, it’s been no different from the last few years. Just bad football after bad football.
Big plays given up. Inept offense. Awful coaching.
All of this was on display again.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn changed quarterbacks at halftime to provide the Jets with a spark. It didn’t work. Tyrod Taylor was no better than Justin Fields. Now we know why Glenn did not bother changing quarterbacks last week in the Jets’ 13-11 loss to the Broncos in London. He knew the backup would be no better than the starting quarterback, and it showed in this game.
Taylor couldn’t move the offense around. He was often sacked. Oh, and he was intercepted twice by Jaycee Horn, too.
So much for providing a spark. For the second straight game, the Jets didn’t score a touchdown.
Maybe Brady Cook should have played in this game, as we suggested last week. He should be starting the rest of the season. The team stinks, and it’s not going to get any better this year.
It doesn’t matter if Cook is ready or not. It doesn’t matter if he’s good or not. He might as well learn through trial and error. There’s no reason to play Field and Taylor again this year.
The micro of this team is bad when you look at what’s going on around the roster. The macro of this team is that there’s no hope.
Glenn seems like a lost cause. His players are clearly not responding to him from what we watched in the last six losses. At this point, they are likely going to quit on him moving forward. What exactly does he have to sell at this point?
It’s the same old stinking story. And you know what? It may never end.
It’s going to be 15 years and counting since the Jets have made the postseason—the longest in North America. There’s a great chance you can add five or more years to this drought. Until the Jets get it right with a quarterback in the draft through development, it’s going to be the Same Old Jets.
They are in a prime position to get the No. 1 pick in the draft this spring. This is the worst team in the NFL. There’s no one close. Outside of Garrett Wilson, who is a playmaker on the team? They don’t even have a quarterback that can score touchdowns.
If kicker Nick Folk is the best the Jets can do when it comes to scoring points in the name of field goals, then this team is not going anywhere.
The Jets are in a position where they are going to have a litter of many quarterbacks to pick in the draft. Does it matter, though? What makes anyone think the Jets will get this one right when they never have?
The Jets recently had Mark Sanchez, Geno Smith, Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson as quarterbacks of the future, and they all flopped here. It’s hard to get excited about the quarterback of the future after past failures.
NFL Draft quarterback candidates such as Carson Beck, LaNorris Sellers, Fernando Mendoza and Garrett Nussmeier must be dreading being drafted by the Jets. Sure, there is an opportunity to play in the nation’s biggest media market and be the guy who turns the Jets around, but this has become more of a burden, as Darnold and Wilson can attest. Some could pull an Eli Manning or John Elway and not play for the Jets.
We may be looking for a new head coach if the Jets actually finish the year with a winless record. With a young quarterback, it makes more sense to have him grow with an offensive-minded head coach. Therein lies the rub: What guy wants to come here? So many head coaches fail, and they come and go just like general managers and quarterbacks? The only coach that may be desperate is Jon Gruden, who is a persona non grata in the NFL.
This franchise is in the darkness right now. This is even worse than it was under Rich Kotite when the Jets were 1-15 in 1996. Back then, they actually had talent that convinced Bill Parcells to coach them and turn the franchise around. There’s no such guy anymore, and there’s not much talent to boast about in this team.
There’s no reason to watch and be invested in Gang Green this season.
Here’s the only question about them in 2025: How low can they go?
