The reigning champions and the 2022 winners go toe to toe on Thursday in Mumbai for a place in the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup final.
England will challenge the formidable India, with both sides fighting to make history at this competition.
It’s never easy to look past India, despite them being comfortably defeated by South Africa in their Super 8 opener and made to fight by both the USA and the Netherlands in the group stage. West Indies pushed them all the way on Sunday, but a tremendous batting display from Sanju Sampson got India over the line and into the last four.
Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah have each taken five wickets so far, with the latter demonstrating, yet again, why he’s one of the best bowlers on the planet. His run rate of 6.30 conceded, along with him only being hit for three sixes in the competition, clearly show England’s batters will have their hands full.
The odds are fairly wide for this semi-final, with India priced at -210. They dominated England 4-1 in their T20 series in 2025, which took place in India. This is a mental hurdle Brendon McCullum’s side will have to overcome.
However, at +165, it wouldn’t be a shock if England were to progress to the final, particularly if Will Jacks can carry his form into the business end of this World Cup. The all-rounder has accumulated a total of 192 runs and seven wickets thus far, benefitting from his experience on Indian pitches.
Jofra Archer is another shining light for England. He has demonstrated his ability to perform when it matters most, with eight wickets in the powerplay. Archer has previously had Sampson’s number, dismissing him three times in five meetings. He is the joint favourite as the top bowler in this match at +300, alongside Adil Rashid.
The country that makes it through will take on the winner of South Africa and New Zealand, and will be the favourite to win the whole thing. Success for India or England on Sunday in Ahmedabad would make them the first country to win the T20 World Cup three times.
