In addition, swimmers are encouraged to mark their calendar and register for Swim Across America – Long Island Sound’s 34th annual open water swim on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Registration is open for the annual swim, which attracts more than 800 swimmers and volunteers who make waves to fight cancer. Established in 1992, Swim Across America – Long Island Sound has raised millions of dollars for its beneficiaries, now including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Columbia University Cancer Center, Cancer Support Team, and Weill Cornell Medicine.
Swim Across America holds open water swims and hundreds of pool swims in 26 markets across the nation — from Nantucket to under the Golden Gate Bridge. With a shared mission to make waves to fight cancer, the organization has raised more than $110 million nationally, with $31 million raised by the Swim Across America – Long Island Sound swim, and contributed to the critical funding of cancer immunotherapy treatments, including FDA-approved Keytruda, Opdivo, Tecentriq, and Yervoy. Swim Across America is literally changing the way cancer is treated.
