“No Pilates Today” Protests “Love is Blind’s” Exercise Fanatic Chris

, , ,

In Love is Blind, couples date for about 10 days without seeing one another, and then decide whether to get engaged. Ultimately, all couples end up hating each other. In this case, hate may not go far enough, so says a message on the board, “No Pilates Today!”

Chris may be the show’s most villainous person ever.

He makes it clear that he’s a fitness fanatic. (I’m surprised that he didn’t start squat jumping mid-date.) He feels less than without a CrossFit session and a cold plunge. Meanwhile, Jessica is forthright in that she detests all that stuff. She’s an accomplished doctor who worked on the frontlines of COVID and has other priorities. Yes, Jessica is a hero. Her only mistake, well, we’ll get to that.

Despite their differences, everything’s rainbows and forever in Cabo on “their honeymoon.” However, when they return home to Ohio, Chris abruptly about-faces and informs Jessica that he’s not into her, specifically her physique. He wants someone who does Pilates every friggin’ day, perhaps multiple sessions, no days off.

Even worse, he tells her that he’s been obsessing over someone else he dated on the show, Bri. It’s unclear how often or even if Bri does Pilates or CrossFit. Bri does make it quite clear that she wants to cold plunge.

A few days after he shamed Jessica, Chris exacerbates the situation by making an overt play for Bri, who’s engaged to his friend, Connor. Yes, Chris is horrible.

So, this Sunday we’re protesting this scoundrel. Actually, scrap that. Chris is not worthy of our protest. We’re supporting Jessica, whose one error was participating in a dating show where she dated someone through a wall. What was behind that wall? A devil.

We will not be marching or chanting, even though we have a good one: No Pilates Today! We’re Gonna Be Polite! Hooray!

We’ll support Jessica by not exercising, not counting calories, and taking marathon, warm showers. And most importantly, we’re encouraging everyone to follow Jessica’s lead and do something kind for someone.

(This post wasn’t found on a Pilates message board. As far as we know, a group called No Pilates Today! does not exist. Still, the protest is on!)
