For much of this season on Netflix’s Love is Blind, Alex Henderson, the college soccer goalie out of Wake Forest, appeared to be the villain. But in reality shows, things can and often do change quickly.
Most notably, on a post-engagement vacation in Cabo, he appeared to flirt with a cast member and then lie about it to his “fiancée,” Ashley, a self-described “daddy’s girl” and “Barbie.”

When Ashley’s father, a veteran divorce attorney, gave Alex the third degree, he seemed to have it coming. While this exchange was very amusing, it was, in retrospect, rude. It was also a foreshadowing of things to come at the altar days later.
Quite memorably, Ashley went for a drop-the-mic, viral moment. She interrupted Alex and berated him, questioning his integrity in front of friends, family — and probably paid attendees. Until this episode, Ashley had acquitted herself well.

In my opinion, with this moment, she made Alex much more sympathetic, which he is. He grew up in a difficult household without his father, but he overcame. Henderson was a walk-on at Wake Forest University, became a star, and the Minnesota United drafted him in 2017.
No, Alex is not perfect. As mentioned during the recently aired “reunion” special, he has trouble showing “vulnerability,” which makes sense, as he’s been hurt by people close to him. However, when he was bullied by Ashley’s father and then by Ashley herself, he didn’t lower himself and remained civil.
Ultimately, when the game was on the line, Alex made the saves. I’m rooting for him, as well as the other Love is Blind cast members, to get lots of followers and roles on one of Netflix’s spinoff reality shows.
After all, sharing their contrived drama with the world makes them deserving.
