Los Angeles wins, we don’t, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have just repeated as World Series champions, and they are a strong bet to repeat in 2026. Worse yet, it’s not just the Dodgers. Meanwhile, the NYC metro pro franchises stink — all of them: MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL.
Only the lockout will prevent LAD from winning another championship. This may also occur when owners attempt to implement a salary cap. Even if they get their way, you can bet the Dodgers will figure out how to win with a salary cap, given their reputation as an innovative and progressive organization. Odds are great they will circumvent the cap.

But even if that happens, don’t expect the Mets and Yankees to do anything about it. That is … as long as Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and Yankees manager Aaron Boone are employed, as well as Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns. No answers is what we’ll get.

It’s just as bad when it comes to the NFL. The Rams possess the leadership to be a Super Bowl contender, thanks to general manager Les Snead and brash head coach Sean McVay. With Jim Harbaugh, the Chargers are on the rise. The Giants and Jets? It’s painful to be in the same league and not be competitive.
NBA? Same. The Lakers boast 17 NBA titles. The Nets? C’mon, and the Knicks are in an epic 52-year title drought.
In the NHL, the Kings recently won two Stanley Cups by beating (not insignificantly) the Devils and Rangers on the way to the crown. It’s a good bet they will win another Cup before the Rangers, Islanders, and Devils.
As for Randy Newman’s song, I Love LA! …. For New Yorkers, it’s “We Hate LA!” We are living in LA’s world, and it seems there’s nothing we can do about it.
Yes, I’m pissed off.
