Timberwolves face a must-win Game 3.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Oklahoma City Thunder carried the momentum from Game 1. They again defeated Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the WCF series.

Thanks to the 38-point game of the newly-crowned MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, alongside Jalen Williams (26 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists) and Chet Holmgren (22 points and four rebounds).

Anthony Edwards scored 32 points for the Timberwolves, grabbed nine rebounds, and provided six assists, followed by Jaden McDaniels’s 22 points, two rebounds, and three blocks.

Before the start of Game 2, the MPV trophy was presented to SGA before the roaring OKC crowd, as fans hailed SGA as the third MVP in OKC’s history (Kevin Durant, 2013-14, and Russell Westbrook, 2016-17).

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: I feel like all my emotions were so high, but I was a little bit tired out there, especially at the start. I was a little too juiced up. Special moment. I’m happy we won, so I can enjoy the last couple of days and soak it up. That helps.

Much like Game 1, the first half of Game 2 was wire-to-wire with neither team holding big leads for a long period. But the second half showed another story; again, OKC adjusted. Led by SGA’s 11-point quarter, OKC outscored the Wolves 35-21 in the 3rd Quarter and never looked back en route to another dominant win.

Games 3 and 4 will be in Minnesota, and the Wolves face a must-win Game 3 on Saturday night.
