Red Raiders Advance To NCAA College World Series

Texas Tech will now take on Florida this Sunday in Omaha.

Last Monday, No. 9 Texas Tech took on Duke in the Lubbock Super Regionals played at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park, the home of Texas Tech baseball.

It was the third game (and tie-breaker) to see which team would advance to the NCAA’s College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.

Tech won the game, 6-2, and will advance to Omaha for the third time in five years.

The win continued Tech’s fantastic season, a campaign that saw the Red Raiders go 44-18 in the regular season.

Monday’s win was propelled by a trio of home runs hit by Gabe Holt, Brian Klein, and Mike Davis. Klein hit his solo home run in the seventh inning to push Tech’s lead to two runs, 4-2.

In the eighth, Cameron Warren hit a lead-off double. He advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt, courtesy of Cody Farhat. Holt then hit a single, driving in Warren, and Josh Jung hit another single, driving in Holt. That made the score, 6-2, and sealed the win for Tech.

As a Tech fan, I’m excited to see what the Red Raiders will do in Omaha.

The Red Raiders will open play on Sunday, 6 p.m. Central Time, against the Florida Gators. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
