The New York Knicks finally traded Carmelo Anthony. They went into the season with a fresh start, rebuilding around Kristaps Porzingis as the “Main Man.”

How’s it going so far? Well, the results are impressive. Just compare last year with this year….

2016-17 KNICKS (31-51, 12th in East)
PTS – 104.3, FT – 78.8%, BLK – 5.5
FG – 44.7%, REB – 45.2, AST – 21.8
3P – 34.8% STL – 7.1 TOV – 13.9

2017-18 KNICKS (10-10, 9th in East as of 11/27/17)
PTS – 104.7, FT – 79.6%, BLK – 4.9
FG – 46.9%, REB – 44.5, AST – 23.8
3P – 35.3%, STL – 7.0, TOV – 16.2

The Knicks were supposed to be good last year–the addition of Derrick Rose raised expectations–but Rose didn’t play well in the triangle offense with Porzingis and Anthony.

Now, with Porzingis as the star, the Knicks have improved in almost every statistical category. There’s more ball movement and less isolation plays. The Knicks are loaded with shooters, too, with Tim Hardaway Jr. and Doug McDermott.

Who expected the Knicks to be this good?!

But make no mistake about it, this is a young team. The goal is to make the playoffs and build toward contending in the East.

For the first time in what seems forever, the Knicks are a team to watch and enjoy.
