Kaya stormed back from a 2:0 deficit to claim the 3rd place trophy.

Stallion started the game aggressively and took the lead two minutes into the game with a double in the fourteenth minute of play. Trailing 2:0 four minutes before the break, Kaya FC Avecilla Joaquin danced past three defenders from the left wing and slotted home Kaya’s first goal.

In the second half, Kaya took control of the game–thanks to the strategy designed by Assistant Coach Lee J. Lai. Kaya drew level with a freekick after Duane Calawod was fouled. Kaya goalkeeper Mangaoang Enrico took the kick and buried it at the back of the net.

“Enrico’s beautiful goal was the game changer,” said Kaya’s Worku Leouie. And it was not the first time Enrico had done that for his team. He scored a long distance goal in the Warren and Brown tournament.

Enrico is a soccer specimen, 6’1″ tall with a mightly physical presence and strong kick.

Kiefer-Diaz Noah Nicolas also scored a goal and provided one assist in the game, and Yabut Enrique also made the score sheet.

After getting the win, Kaya’s captain, Domelow Neil Harry, talked about what it took: “It was a good comeback. We worked hard for each other and didn’t give up despite being behind very early.”

“Everyone was so good today,” Garcia Alexandro chimed in. “We’re surely better than last season.”

Assistant Coach Lee explained why the team got behind: “The boys had the ability to win the game from start, but they were too relaxed. The desire to win was missing. When the attitude changed in the second half, the game changed, too.”

Sadly, though, age is the reason why this game was the last outing for most of the players. “I’ll miss this group, no doubt,” Noah said.”Starting U17 is going to be hard, but I look forward to it.”

“I wish the best to those who will be moving up to U17. For those who will remain, we have a lot of work to do to prepare for next year’s YFL,” Head Coach Lerche Njang
