Philippine’s Under-12 Football Club Set To Compete In China

Competing in the tournament will help improve the level of play in The Philippines.

After months of training, the Dynamic Football Club’s (DFC) Under-12 football team will leave for China this weekend. Fifteen boys, ages 12 and under, will compete in the Soong Chin Ling Cup in Qinhuangdao and Beijing, August 6-13. This will be the first international tournament for most players.

The DFC U-12 roster includes Jan Diola, Robert Indiape, Matthew Jochico, Lance Locsin, Rodrigo Mariňas, Timothy Sarrosa, Jefferson Tolimao, Ronan Treyes, Asher Vicera and Joshua Yee. These boys are products of DFL tournaments and various local tournaments in the city. They are reinforced by Francis Botavara (Iloilo FA), Lucas Andan and Jan Donato (La Salle Greenhills), and Viggo Herce and Jared Pena (De La Salle – Zobel).

The DFC team will play in an 8-a-side format against other countries and clubs. Head coach Dave Javellana is confident that the team will perform well.

Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) and DFC president, Mr. Ricardo ‘Ricky’ V. Yanson Jr., will lead the team to China. Yanson will be joined by NOFA Secretary General. Ronald Allan Treyes and Gino Marcelino Norcio. Also working with the team is goalie coach, Ian Combate, and defensive coach Noriel Revilla.

Yanson, who has been promoting the sport in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, said that playing in the tournament will help improve the level of play in The Philippines.

Yanson is also involved in the province’s professional club–the Ceres-Negros FC–which is owned by his brother, Leo Ray. Ceres-Negros FC is currently playing in the AFC Cup Zonal Finals–the first and only Filipino football club to have reached this level.
