Donald Trump is our president-elect. On Tuesday night ‘The Donald’ surprised much of America with a victory over Hillary Clinton.

While there are many questions about what his election will mean for America and the world, let’s speculate about what might be in store for Washington…the Redskins, I mean.

One issue is how the Washington Redskins perform under different political administrations, Republican and Democrat.

In their 85 seasons (1932-2016) the Redskins have a regular-season record of 582-568-28. They are 23-19 in the Playoffs and 3-5 in the Super Bowl.

Since 1940 the Redskins are 131-309-8 when there is a Democrat in The White House. That’s about a 30% win-rate. But the ‘Skins are 292-164, winning at a 64% clip. when the country is under Republican leadership

In terms of playoff appearances, the Redskins also do better under Republican administrations. Washington has 15 apperances under Republicans, eight under Democrats. The number will be nine if the 2016 Redskins (4-3-1 as of 11/11/16) make the Playoffs.

The Redskins’ best performances came when Ronald Reagan was president (69% winning percentage). The Redskins won two Super Bowls during Reagan’s tenure–the most they’ve won under any president.

The other side of the coin? It was when John F. Kennedy was president. Washington went 15-38-1, for a winning percentage of just 28.3%.

And recently–under mixed administrations, George W. Bush and Barrack Obama–the Redskins have a combined record of 105-144. (It has been rough recently for Redskin fans.)

What’s it all mean? Well, from a statistical standpoint, a Republican/Trump victory Tuesday night is a favorable sign for Washington (in pro football, at least).

“Make Washington (Redskins) Great Again” is the hope.
