NFL Hall of Fame Game/ Week in Review

, , , , ,

Storyline: The NFL is back! Storylines are developing. Watch Bridgewater-to-Rudolph. Waynes was burned. Coates looks good. Suisham is done. And Gino was punched out…literally.

Finally … a taste of football comes back into our lives.

I found myself watching CFL games on TV and sat in disappointment. NFL Preseason is back in swing and that beats CFL any day.

Hall Of Fame Game
Minnesota Vikings vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

VIKINGS

THE GOOD: Teddy Bridgewater did a good job showing a poised composure. Teddy was able to have a good connection with their TE Kyle Rudolph. That’s great news if Rudolph can stay healthy. If those two can connect then he’ll be a large contributor to the offense when Peterson isn’t carrying the ball. Rudolph’s Fantasy value is rising, but he’s an injury risk.

THE BAD: Trae Waynes, the 2015 11th pick overall for the Vikings, had trouble. This cornerback was burned several times during the game and it appeared he had his hands full. The rumors are that his ego seems to have gotten the best of him, Maybe he’ll be more level-headed next game.

STEELERS

THE GOOD: I watched the rookie, Sammie Coates (Auburn) every chance I got. The Steelers have a great reputation with picking WRs in the draft. He had one reception for 12 yards, but he had a missed opportunity to get a TD that resulted in defensive pass interference on CB Waynes. Keep tabs on him through the preseason to see if he’s another WR the Steelers will be able to forge into a star.

THE BAD: Their kicker, Shaun Suisham, tore his ACL. Suisham suffered the injury when he went for a tackle during the 2nd Half kickoff. It’s sad when any player gets hurt, but a kicker living the dream shouldn’t be trying to make tackles in a preseason game.

Other

Geno Smith breaks his jaw in a locker room dispute. Smith may not only have had his jaw wrecked, but maybe his career, too. Smith has been in trouble ever since he’s been the QB for the Jets and this might be the last blow. Fitzpatrick will get a chance to lead the Jets while Smith is gone. IK Enemkpali (the LB that punched Geno) was immediately dropped and Rex Ryan’s Bills have picked him up. That move can only be seen as rubbing salt into the wound.
