Any given Sunday is often the catch phrase for a good victory in the NFL. However, this past Saturday held that any given Saturday can tip the balance for superior football. The USC Gamecocks ran with that mentality and It helped them capitalize a 14-19 victory over the Gators.

The USC Gamecocks tried and proven, demonstrated that handwork and dedication really bring out the all-star for their offensive line. In a nail biter, Elliot Fry, the Gamecocks kicker, delivered three field goal kicks. These kicks were instrumental in both the bottom of the first and fourth quarters. Particularly the fourth quarter as it was essential to the last points put on the board that brought victory.

Elliot Fry, lets inspect this guy a little bit. If Texas bread and raised wasn’t enough, he’s also a determined performer. He was a walk on roster addition, who has been nothing if not consistent and devoted to the fundamentals of the sport. Walk-on freshmen are a huge gamble on how they perform and accumulate points on the board. Normally, there true measure will be how they react to the pressures of college ball. If recent games count for anything, this kicker has got unlimited potential at his feet.

When you think football, you think of legends like Dan Marino, Jerry Rice, Brett Farr for quarterbacks. How ever when you think defensive ends, its Robert Mathis, Jack Youngblood, or even Gino Marchetti that comes to mind. Yesterday, Jadeveon Clowney demonstrated that in his junior year he is a force to behold. Remarkably, knocking off six yards with a single tackle, is almost Superhuman in feat. Clowney, a rock hill native, is the “big guns” arsenal that the gamecocks have had on their defensive line. Making holes in walls, is what this Mack truck specializes in. A speciality they are sure to need against Clemson here in a few weeks.

Respectively, Saturday’s game was a great match up. Gators are a top performing SEC team that never fails to impress. Gamecocks had some serious upsets against teams like the UGA Bulldogs led by Aaron Murray, and the Tennessee Vols. Before they Played Florida, they were ranked SEC’s 11th. As expected, the Gamecocks are in a position to dominate and end on top in the SEC conference. Ultimately, if they keep to their strengths and keep putting holes in the offensive lines and strategically placed field goal points, they sky is the limit. One fan, Michael Hooks, put it best, I always joke, solo we can kick a pebble, as a group we could move a mountain.”  True story.
